Kids Agianst Plastic was founded by Amy and Ella Meek when they were 12 and 10 years old. Now 19 and 17. They first campaigned for dog poo to be picked up around Nottingham. They were then inspired to reduce litter and plastic across the UK. They challenged themseleves to pick up 100,000 pieces of litter in 12 months.
They have won many awards for their environmental work that include Pride of Britain Award and British Empire Medal. They have written two books called Be Plastic Clever and be Climate Clever both Endorsed by Steve Backshall. Mr Moore has also met Amy and Ella Meek too.
You can join their KAP Club for Free. The Kids Against Plastic Club is a free-to-join initiative that encourages children to become active against plastic pollution. They do a free live zoom call with all their members on a Saturday morning. They play games, hear about children’s campaigns and give advice. https://www.kidsagainstplastic.co.uk/do/join/ They have 3 challenges you can do to earn metal badges Bronze, Silver and Gold. For the Bronze badge you need to do 3 litter picks.
Also map your litter picks using their app https://www.kidsagainstplastic.co.uk/map/ Planet Patrol is also another good app to use to register and map the litter you pick up https://planetpatrol.co/litter-map/ Lizzie Carr founded Planet Patrol and has a MBE for her environmental work. She was the first woman to paddle board across the English Channel.
Please let Mrs Beasley and I know how you get on.
