I expect you all had some very tired children come home on Thursday. They had a wonderful day out; packed full with learning, new experiences and plenty of fresh air. I can only add one photo per post so I’ve made up a few collages to give you a taster of the day. Even if your child doesn’t feature in a photo they’re a great starting point for talking about the day. I’ll pop some prompts below but hopefully they’ll be keen to tell you all about it.

So… We arrived and headed into a different sort of classroom with straw bale seats and a couple of new teachers: farmers Stuart and Tessa. We learnt a bit about spring on the farm and then headed straight out to see the lambs and look at the poultry. We then gathered at a large table to learn about egg production with Lucy the hen.

Can you remember…

The names of the four lambs? Clue: Spring…

Why it’s warmer under a chicken’s wing?

How many eggs are being made inside a chicken at one time?

What extra job a duck does to keep her eggs warm all over?

And for the adults – the name of a baby turkey?

Pop your answers in the comments for a sticker next week!
