We loved our workshop with the Dorset Heaths Partnership. Amy taught us all about the flowers, plants and wildlife that can be found on our precious Dorset heaths. We learned that the Nightjar flies all the way from Africa to Dorset each year, another amazing example of migration to add to all that we have been learning on special journeys this term, and we got to look at lots of specimens. The highlight was meeting a smooth snake, which had been caught on the heath that morning! All the children really showed their Damers ‘Way of Being’ – showing bravery to touch the snake (and to say when they didn’t want to) and kindness by keeping quiet and calm so they didn’t scare it.
